A lot of devotees make the pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib every year from abroad.

It was felt that there was a great need to comfortably accommodate these pilgrims especially the young, disabled and the elderly.

It was regarded as very important to provide the facilities of proper toilets, lifts, air-conditioned clean bedrooms, hot water, and clean bed sheets so that the young, disabled and the elderly would be accommodated comfortably whilst visiting the Shrine.

This would also enable parents to encourage the young to learn more about the history and the importance of this Shrine and Sikhism as a whole. We want them to re-visit with their families when they grow up and carry the flag of Sikhism into the centuries to come.

To keep this need in mind, Mr Harbhajan Singh Shergill of England requested the Sachkhand Board to allow the NRI Trust to build this Niwas (Hostel). The request was accepted and the work was started with the help and support of the Sangat.

By the grace of God Almighty, this magnificent building of 80 comfortable rooms is now complete after three and a half years’ hard work. It has cost Rs.3.5 Crore and took three and a half years to complete. It has been opened for use by the Sangat in 2004. Those who have the opportunity to stay in this Niwas have enjoyed their stay and are very appreciative of the hard work that has been put into this building to get it up and running.
